Ontario International Development
Agency completed its first phase Ontario Village Programs in Sri Lanka and
Agency organized "Canadian Stance - After the Wave" humanitarian aid
forum to obtain more support for its humanitarian programs. Hon. Navdeep
Bains MP PC, Government of Canada, Hon. C S Poolokasingham, Consul General
of Sri Lanka in Toronto, Norma Zubickova, Programs Manager Asia, Canadian Executive
Service Organization (CESO), Alexander Pavlov, Chairman, World Fit for Children
(WFFC) addressed the function.
Event was colorful with performances from Sri Lankan dancers, and children from
Saroj Puri's La Bhangra Dance studio. Dr. Neville Hewage, President and CEO, Mr.
Ananth Rajkumar, Director Finance & Economic Strategies, Dr. Bhushan Sood,
Director Newcomers & Equity Affairs also addressed the event. Project and continuous
financial support officially handed over to people of Sri Lanka at this event
and also donated One million Sri Lankan Rupees and one million Sri Lankan rupees
worth of five year scholarship program to Child & Youth Development
Centre, Boossa,
Sri Lanka. Ms. Jigna Shah was the emcee for the forum and auditorium
filled with supporters and well wishers.
At this event "Humanitarian Scroll of Honour" was presented by Hon. C
S Poolokasingham, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Toronto to Dr. Asoka Jayasena
of People in Need Foundation, Sri Lanka for his service in Tsunami Relief and
rehabilitation work. Dr. Asoka Jayasena is a Trustee of People in Need
Foundation, Sri Lanka.
