The
organization was formed by Selvi Sureswaran in 1995.
Originally, the organization coached students in the city of Toronto and
slowly expanded its base to the Region of Waterloo, Ontario.
Due to popularity of the dance among fellow Canadians Selvi had to
conduct classes in Mississauga and Scarborough. The Waterloo region
students are from the city of Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph. |

| Nupura aims at introducing traditional South Indian culture to the student with a hope that the beauty, grace and wisdom embodied in it will become an integral part of his/her life, whatever his/her dreams and aspirations may be. South Indian classical music and dance, carrying with them generations of wisdom aging back to antiquity, becomes the chief medium of creating awareness in students. Nupura seeks to conserve and promote an awareness of this rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry amongst the students through focus on the classical arts, with their attendant legends, rituals, mythology and philosophy and to facilitate an awareness of their deeper and subtler values. The school teaches Bharathnatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattom, folk dances and Carnatic music. |

“Bharatha
Shethira"
school of Dance, was inaugurated in Canada by Shrimathi Viji
Murali in 1988. Viji
who had her training in the Kalashektra method, had her arangetram (Dance
Debut) when she was 11 years. Viji’s
dedication to this time art and a meticulous teacher, she has passed on
her expertise to her young students. Her performance have appeared several
times on City TV, TVI & Roger Cable. Viji has greatly contributed to
the community by presenting various dance programs to raise funds, to name
a few, she performed for The Hospic Of Peel, where the Mayor of
Mississauga was present. Also for Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Peel
organized by Peel Chapter of CGA of Ontario. Viji & her students have
not only performed in Ontario but also in Ottawa, Manhattan New York
and Rochester New York, for Maha Sivarathri, Navarathiri & Ratha
Yanthra at Centre Island. |
D-Maatrik

The D-Maatrik is a
multicultural entertainment organization that promotes south Asian
culture, art, history in the Canadian mainstream. We acknowledge and
recognize talented artists in Canada by mentoring and supporting them on
stage & shows. D-Maatrik aims at building a strong community with the
vibe of culture and music. D-Maatrik is also engaged in arranging
different workshops led by renowned people from in and out of South Asia.
Moreover, to enhance the skills of the members, a number of skilled
mentors are always there to supervise them in the process of knowledge
sharing. To increase the level of local performances to a certain stage,
D-Maatrik rehearses, directs and performs in its own criteria. It also
arranges package programs for interested groups and events. Professionally
taken, the performer of D-Maatrik believes in quality product. In addition, We arrange corporate events as well as package programs for any needs. Chalovich What's on Tap dance company offers a unique presence in the
dance community. TAP, TAP and more TAP!. The performing company produces
and tours professional tap dance shows, and also hosts an international
tap dance festival each year. (ECTC - Eastern Canadian Tap Conference).
The company also offers workshops, lessons, (beginners to advance),
and master classes: all with the specific mandate in mind: KEEPING THE ART

Lathika's Dance Group
Opening Dance
| Lathika’s Dance Troupe, presenting the opening item as guest performers, is a name that needs no introduction to the Sri Lankan Community in Canada. Since it’s inception in 1989, the troupe’s creator, Lathika Abeyesekera has choreographed and produced performances that have earned her a reputation for originality unmatched. Besides her inventive choreography, creative combinations of musical rhythms that have incorporated both classical and modern Sinhala, Tamil, Malay and English music, she is widely recognized for her unique and outstanding costume design. Over the years many of Lathika’s performers have moved on to creating their own dance groups, using the learning experiences gained by performing in her troupe. The present troupe comprises a group of beautiful girls some still teenagers who over the years have captivated their audiences with their talent for presentation of rhythmic dance moves. The fluidity of their movements always keeps the heart, mind and soul of audiences spellbound. From performances at The Centre for Performing Arts, City Hall, fundraising and cultural events all over the city, Lathika’s Dance troupe continues to be one of the most sought after performers in Toronto. Although frequent demand exists for paid performances from this group, they maintain a willingness to perform for cultural and fundraising events only. Lathika's dance troupe presented opening performance for the Ontario Dance Festival 2006 and 2007. Lathika Abeysekara received OIDA Gold Medal for Volunteer Service Award 2007. |
Polish Dance Ensemble -
Cracovia Dance Group

| Polish Dance Ensemble “Cracovia” was founded in December 2004 at Saint Eugene de Mazenod Mission in Brampton from initiative of father Adam Filas. The Artistic Director and Choreographer is Monika Falarz. Most of the dancers in the group are teenagers or young adults of polish descent and there are currently over 50 members in the ensemble. “Cracovia” in its short existence, has had many performances in Brampton, Toronto, and Canada. Most of the time, “Cracovia” performs for important religious and national polish holidays in order to keep up the traditions and memories of our ancestors. The group’s initiative is to promote and represent the Polish culture among the Polish community and the multicultural community of Brampton, to portray beautiful and rich Polish traditions and sources of our faith and national identity. “Cracovia” is extremely grateful for any words of encouragement and recognition, which allow the group to grow and preserve the thousand year old history of Polish Folklore. |
Nair Social Society Canada

| Nair Social Society (NSS) of Canada – “Malayalee’s Home away from Home” Registered non-profit organization in Ontario. Organization main objectives are to liaise all Nairs in Canada socially, and uphold the ideas enumerated by the founders of NSS. NSS Canada runs programs for uplifting the welfare of the Nair Community in Canada. In addition to that NSS Canada promote social, cultural, educational, recreational activities among members. NSS Canada also participate all social and cultural activities in Canada and part of the rich Canadian cultural heritage. NSS Canada provides Malayalam cinematic dance and performers are Anjana Harigovind and Saranya Nair. This unique dance Choreographed by Geetha Harigovind. |
La Bahangra

| La Bhangra academy provide East Indian Punjabi Dance training for Canadians. Saroj Puri is a Choreographer and Educator for the La Bhangra Dance academy. Saroj Puri Dance studio participated many events across the Canada. The surprise stealer of the entire festival will be the Bhangra Dance and Bollywood Dance by students' from Saroj Puri's "La Bhangra Dance Studio." All students representing all races grooved on zestful Bhangra tunes and expected to be received standing ovation from a thrilled audience |
Nilanthi's Rangana Creations Dance Troupe
Group A
| Nilanthi Hettige’s Rangana Creations dancing troupe have been participating and entertaining the crowds in cultural shows, special events, musical shows etc. held by the Sri Lankan community for over 10 years. Nilanthi enjoys working with all age groups but her specialty is working with smaller children ages ranging from 4 years and up. Her dancing creations are more of a contemporary, free style mix with traditional Sri Lankan which is more suited for the small age groups she trains. One of her goals is to make sure the little ones are comfortable and relaxed on stage to perform in front of larger crowds. She enjoys giving the opportunity to kids who loves to explore and do new things. While making them stage savvy at a very young age, Nilanthi makes sure the kids are comfortable in special dancing attires as well as in traditional Sri Lankan costumes. Through her dancing and singing events she ensures the children are reminded of the traditional Sri Lankan customs and values. |
Amaathe School of Music

This dance performance choreographed by the Artistic Director of the Amaathe School of Music, Ms. Stella Amaathe Arachchige. Amaathee hold degree in Music (Visharada). Amaathie's group consists of well trained professional dancers and rhythmic precaution drummers (traditional) and harmonical music performers. School presents unique traditional Srilankan Kandyan dance with live traditional drumming. |
