Manjari Sankuranthri Memrial Foundation (MSMF) was established by Dr. Chandra S. Sankuranthri in memory of his wife and son Srikiran and daughter Sarada who died in the 1985 Air India disaster. Foundation is promoting rural community development in south India through education, health care, and humanitarian relief programs. MSMF is governed and managed by volunteers and do not have salaried employees. Project progress at a glance till June 2009

Empowerment of the poor through
proper education, health and timely help to needy is the mission with which Dr.
Chandra Sekhar Sankurathri established a foundation, Manjari Sankurathri
Memorial Foundation (MSMF) in Ottawa, Canada in 1989. This foundation is in
loving memory of his wife, Manjari Sankurathri and two children Srikiran (7 yrs)
and Sarada (4 yrs) who were killed in the Air India (Kanishka) disaster on 23rd
June, 1985, off the coast of Ireland. MSMF is a
registered non-profit trust to empower the poor to become self-reliant. MSMF
established three major programs to improve quality of life for the poor
and needy.
The Foundation's activities are carried from a center established on a serene
three acre plot in a rural area, 10 kms from Kakinada town in Andhra Pradesh
state on the southeast coast of India. It is a town of moderate size with a
population of 450,000. This town is the head quarters of the East Godavari
district. This can be reached either by car or train from Chennai (600 kms.),
Hyderabad (560 kms.) or Visakhapatnam(180 kms.).
