Sudbury June 06, 2009 Program Information

Empowerment of the poor through proper education, health and timely help to needy is the mission with which Dr. Chandra Sekhar Sankurathri established a foundation, Manjari Sankurathri Memorial Foundation (MSMF) in Ottawa, Canada in 1989. This foundation is in loving memory of his wife, Manjari Sankurathri and two children Srikiran (7 yrs) and Sarada (4 yrs) who were killed in the Air India (Kanishka) disaster on 23rd June, 1985, off the coast of Ireland. MSMF is a registered non-profit trust to empower the poor to become self-reliant. MSMF established three major programs to  improve quality of life for the poor and needy.

The Foundation's activities are carried from a center established on a serene three acre plot in a rural area, 10 kms from Kakinada town in Andhra Pradesh state on the southeast coast of India. It is a town of moderate size with a population of 450,000. This town is the head quarters of the East Godavari district. This can be reached either by car or train from Chennai (600 kms.), Hyderabad (560 kms.) or Visakhapatnam(180 kms.).
