Uthayam (Dawan) 2006 - Musical Benefit Concert
Toronto & Montreal

Ontario International Development Agency organized "Uthayam 2006" Musical Benefit concert to support "Uthayam" Visually impaired people vocational training centre in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan world renowned artist Nagamuttu Rakunathan performed for the concert with local artists. Two concerts were scheduled in Toronto and Montreal. Uthayam Toronto concert was held on October 21, 2006 at the Sir John A McDonald Theatre and Montreal Concert was held on November 04, 2006 at the Mont-Royal High School Auditorium. Sri Lanka Consul General in Toronto Hon. C S Poolokasingham and Mrs Poolokasingham participated as a Chief Guests for the Toronto concert. Dr. Kandaia Vijekanth also participated for event. Dr. Vijekanth is assisting OIDA to deliver project in Sri Lanka.
